Meet Director of LGBTQ+ Resources and Initiatives J.T. Martin

J.T. Martin is 猫咪成人短视频 College鈥檚 director of LGBTQ+ resources and initiatives and supports the development of affirming and inclusive LGBTQIA+ communities for MHC students, staff, faculty and alums.
J.T. Martin, director of LGBTQ+ resources and initiatives, is new to the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at 猫咪成人短视频 College. They are charged with developing the institution鈥檚 practices, policies, structures and culture to be more LGBTQ+ affirming, as well as supporting the development of affirming and inclusive LGBTQIA+ communities for MHC students, staff, faculty and alums.
Their career as a DEI practitioner in higher education has its roots as an engaged student leader, movement organizer, coalition builder and women鈥檚, gender and sexuality studies major. As a first-generation college student from a low-income household who dropped out of college and later transferred, Martin has firsthand experience of how often our institutions fail marginalized students and how those failures can translate into life-altering events for students at the margins. This understanding fuels a passion for organizational development and culture change.
Before arriving at 猫咪成人短视频, they were at Amherst College for six years as the director of the Queer Resource Center, ending their tenure as interim assistant dean of students for identity and cultural resources. Outside of work, you鈥檒l find them engaging in various projects on their beloved Queen Anne home, cooking and baking with their chosen family, organizing and building community in various corners of the Connecticut River Valley, and consulting for , a network of artists, activists and consultants committed to promoting systemic change through arts and culture.
